Actually, the link equations look pretty good for a turnstyle omnidirectional
and a cool gaasfet.  That does away with the tracking system.  Of course,
this implies that 1) the router has to know when the satellite is overhead,
2) the desired link is within the footprint at that time.  So, your gateways
have to be a bit more intellegent than average, and somebody needs to define
a tcp protocol for "physical environment routing information" (eg.,
keplerians, 2800 MHz flux et al).  Certainly doable.
