Kiss question

I would like to pass the Persist parameter to a Kiss TNC using a little program
that writes directly on the serial port.
Please , can someone give me the exact sequence that i have to pass ?
I tried with:

0xdb,0xdc,0x02,value,0xc0         something wrong ?

Is there a way to read the values for Persist,Slottime,TXTail that the TNC has
at a certain time ? How ?
