Jack,
That modification may have been from one that we did in NNJ and
EPA years ago. It had two reasons at the time. One was a slighly
increased speed using the same hardware. The other was security
as on our dedicated links no one using 1200 baud could access them.
It worked well at the time but would probably have no practical use
now. When we were using it 2400 baud was not yet used and 9600 baud
was a build you own mode. If I remember right the mod also eliminated
the TNC2 input filter by removing the rpack in the front corner and
replacing it with a single (10k??).
